Michael and I recently celebrated our five year *dating* anniversary with a trip to Mount Rainier. Can you believe that Michael has lived in Washington all of his life and has never been before?!? To be fair, I’ve only visited there once before this particular trip. The idea of planning a small adventure getaway was a fun idea during this slow season of our business. In addition, it got us out of our routines of sitting at home while watching Netflix, haha!
Day One | Paradise
We decided to spend two days for our visit. After renting snowshoes and hiking poles, we drove up to Paradise to snowshoe around the Paradise Glacier. Although it was a cloudy day, we were obsessed with the scenery and took some photos near sunset time. On our way to the bottom of Mount Rainier National Park, we stopped for take out food and checked into our bed and breakfast for the night. We stayed at Alexander’s Lodge and would recommend it! (We booked through Airbnb, but it looks like you can make reservations from their website, too.)
Day Two | Narada Falls
The sun came out for our second day up the mountain. We stopped along the road to take quick photos of a small waterfall before making out way to the Narada Falls hiking trail. With the sun so bright, I had to give Michael my sunglasses and take out my contacts to wear my prescription sunglasses so he wouldn’t go blind, haha! We wished we could’ve gone farther in our hike, but had to turn around so we could return our snowshoe rentals in time back in Seattle that evening.
Overall, our trip was relaxing and had beautiful views! We plan to visit again throughout the year since there’s so much to see. Hopefully our trip inspires a trip of your own to Mount Rainier in the near future!
