A boudoir session is an empowering and fun experience and here are three ways to feel confident leading up to your session. If it’s your first time getting boudoir photos done, then it’s completely normal to feel nervous and/ or excited before your photos. I hope these simple tips help ease any nervous thoughts!

1. Pick Outfits That Make You Feel Beautiful & Complement Your Body

One of the main reasons why women choose to wait/ never do a boudoir session is because of their negative self image. That isn’t something that someone else can change for you, as I’m sure you already know. What is in your control is choosing your outfits wisely. Any lingerie, cozy sweater, robe, etc. should make you feel beautiful. There is no right or wrong with your outfit, especially if you love it.

When it comes to the specific outfits you’ll wear, I help all of my clients make decisions based on the parts of their body that they love and want to accentuate. On the flip side, if you’re looking to cover up or hide something you might be insecure about, then that’s okay, too! For example, maybe your arms or belly aren’t your favorite, so you decide to wear a lace robe or silk night gown.

2. Splurge on Professional Hair & Makeup

Hiring a professional hair and makeup artist is a must for boudoir sessions! An artist knows how to make your hair and makeup last AND they know how to make it look amazing on camera. It’s also a fun experience before your shoot to get pampered and have someone to talk to. Once you see the finished product, you won’t regret splurging on a hair and makeup artist that complements your natural beauty!

3. Repeat Positive Affirmations

This tip sounds silly, but trust me it works. Stand in front of a full length mirror, roll those shoulder back, and repeat a positive affirmation! (“I am beautiful,” “I am unique,” etc.) Adjusting your posture into a confident position and saying sweet things to yourself is one of those “fake it ’til you make it” strategies.
