xoxo, stormy
Hello and welcome, friend! I'm Stormy and I'm a wedding photographer shooting both digital and film photos serving the Greater Seattle Area, the Pacific Northwest, Colorado, Texas, and wherever love stories take me.
I'm not here to tell you that I was born with a camera in my hands and photography has always been a passion of mine. Photography is one of those things that I didn't know I loved until I combined it with my passion for connecting and building meaningful relationships with madly-in-love couples. For me, photography is more than just taking pretty pictures; it's documenting the sweet memories of life as heirlooms to be cherished and passed down to future generations.

I was born and raised in colorful Colorado and after moving to Washington back in 2013 and marrying my husband, Michael, in 2018, we started our life together in Bellevue. Since then, I frequently travel between Washington, Colorado, and Texas documenting love stories for couples and families.
Love, family, and tradition bring warmth to our home.

Nothing warms us up faster on a quiet morning than enjoying a hot cup of coffee together. Throw in a few friends and some of Michael's famous challah french toast and you have the ingredients for a perfect day.

There's no comparison to indulging in something sweet every once in a while! Michael's guilty pleasure is either homemade pie or Sour Patch Kids and I'll never say no to cake pops or white chocolate Reeses.

We can appreciate a date night on the town, but you'll usually find us at home enjoying a homemade meal by Michael over a glass of sauvignon blanc for me and beer or whiskey for Michael. Cheers!

Michael has played the piano for almost 20 years and I recently started learning to play the cello in 2020. We are firm believers that you're never too old to learn something new!

I LOVE our three fur babies: Sunny, Leo, and Oliver (Ollie).
I wake up every day to three cuddling cats and it's like my little piece of kitty heaven every morning!

Funny people are my favorite people. I listen to comedy stand up on Pandora/ Spotify more than I listen to actual music and will always pick a funny movie over any other genre, haha!

I'm not really a "brand obsessed" kind of gal, but just about everything made by Kendra Scott is so "me." I'm always excited to open up one of their recognizable yellow boxes!

I went to Disney World with my family for the first time in January 2020 and I fell in love! Michael and I are already planning our next Disney Land trip!
Give me my sparkly pink Minnie ears and I'm in childhood bliss all over again.

My favorite thing to do is create new dishes in the kitchen. I spoil Stormy with breakfast (and lattes made with love) every morning in bed!

One of our friends invited Stormy and me rock climbing at the end of 2019 and I've been climbing ever since at the Seattle Bouldering Project.

I received my black belt when I was in high school and even have a video of me breaking a cement block with just my hand.

In my free time, I find myself listening to and watching a wide range of sci-fi movies and podcasts. I've also watched every Star Trek episode that's ever existed and I can't get enough of it!

How We Met
We first met our freshman year at UW Seattle while taking a calculus class together. After becoming friends that summer and spending Sundays together making brunch, we started to see more and more of each other as our feeling started to grow.

Our First Date
Our relationship became official when I invited Michael to my work party in 2016. My coworkers knew about my crush on Michael and that he would be accompanying me to the party so I was giddy the entire night while I introduced him to everyone. Our date ended with us walking along the dock on Lake Washington where we shared our first kiss with the Seattle twinkling in the background!
In our first year of dating, we traveled to Peru! Our trip lasted two weeks and while in Peru, we tasted coffee and tried new food dishes. We hiked up to Machu Picchu at 4am to watch the sunrise and spent the following day eating chocolate cake in bed, haha! I almost cried seeing the Nazca Lines and we smile every time we think about the cooking class and whitewater rafting tour we did.

We started talking about our intentions for marriage even before we started living together and had been looking at engagement rings 6 months before Michael's "proposal." November 2017 rolled around and I fell in love with what is now my engagement ring. After we picked up the ring, we mutually decided that we were ready to be engaged. That was that! I did ask Michael to give me a cliche proposal, which he did twice at the dock where we had our first kiss.

Fast forward to 11.11.18... Our wedding day at the Burke Museum in Seattle!
We started the day bright and early getting ready together. Later in the morning, Michael and I shared our first look together in front of UW Seattle's Denny Hall before our ceremony started. When it came to our reception, we wanted to celebrate our marriage with something that felt true to us, so we had a brunch wedding!

At twelve years old, the unexpected passing of Stormy’s brother rocked her family to the core. Even as a child, Stormy was already taking stock of the moments with him she’d never have: She’d never get to hear her brother’s voice calling to her from across the house. She’d never get to dance with him on her wedding day. She’d never get to see him fall in love. In the absence of her brother, Stormy has only a few photographs of him–each more precious than the last. In the years since his passing, Stormy has kept these photos close to her heart.
The value of portraiture is simple: Long after their subjects are gone, pictures remain. Whether it's grandparents, brothers, fur babies, or anyone in between, their memories will live on through photography.
Eventually, we’ll all know loss. As time passes, grief changes, but it never leaves us. Like the tide, it ebbs and flows–crashing upon the rocks or shimmering under a clear sky–but it’s always there. In constant motion, grief transforms, swells, and subsides, but photographs only grow in value over time.
