As Michael and I arrived to Discovery Park in Seattle for Young-wha and Rutledge’s engagement session, we realized we were deceived by the weather forecast. Rather than the expected sunny fall day, we were met with fog and smoke (smog). Despite the gloomy conditions, Young-wha and Rutledge’s personalities and obvious chemistry made for joyful photos! Just wait until you see their smiles!
Young-wha and Rutledge have one of those special bonds where they each spark an infectious laughter together. A witty comment here and a silly face there made all four of us burst out laughing! Even meeting these two for the first time over video was such a fun time. Bonding over dance backgrounds, a love for antiquing, and an appreciation for passing down memories were just a few of the reasons I felt like we clicked in our first meeting. That and these two are the most hilarious couple!
Before the session, Rutledge had apparently come up with some unique ideas for photos. One of his ideas was that he’d heroically thrust a sword in the air while Young-wha lay on the ground clinging to his leg like a Conan inspired art piece. Michael thought it was hysterical! Young-wha talked him out of it, but we all liked his goofy ideas.
Whenever we meet a couple we really click with, we know it because we never can just say goodbye. Michael and I must have talked to Young-wha and Rutledge for twenty minutes after their session about everything from unique family names to gardening.
Young-wha and Rutledge are getting married next year at the MV Skansonia. We can hardly wait for their special day! Enjoy some of my favorite photos from their engagement session below and be sure to check out Young-wha’s beautiful and unique ring; Rutledge did a great job picking it out 🙂
