Kate + Johnny | Vashon Island Wedding

What a perfect way to kick off our wedding season than with an intimate backyard wedding on Vashon Island! This was actually my first time on a ferry EVER. I’ve lived near Seattle since 2013 so I’m not sure if it’s surprising or shameful to be taking my first ferry ride six years after I moved here. It was a really fun fifteen minutes and of course I made Michael take a picture of me before we got to our Vashon Island wedding 😛

The Proposal

Kate + Johnny have one of the sweetest proposal stories that I’d love to briefly share. While spending Memorial Weekend right on the Pacific Ocean, the happy couple went to the town near the peninsula where they were staying. They were walking together around that town and it must have been a beautiful moment because Kate asked Johnny if he could imagine sharing moments like that together when they’re old.

Kate’s question triggered Johnny’s proposal just like you’d expect from a romance novel. He responded by asking her to make him the happiest man in the world!!! Overwhelmed with excitement, Kate jumped into a kiss without giving her answer out loud. Johnny needed to hear an answer and it was clearly a ‘yes’ from Kate! Isn’t that the sweetest?

Intimate Backyard Wedding

This intimate wedding was held at the home of Kate’s host parents and the bride and groom were surrounded by all of their dear friends since all of their family lives in Colombia. One of my favorite parts of the ceremony was seeing their dog, Bruno, walk down the aisle in his tuxedo outfit. While the ceremony was happening, Bruno was attached by a bungee cord to Johnny’s ankle. With the direct sun and heat, Bruno decided to jump down from their ceremony platform to relax in the shade. I panicked once I saw the leash attached to the groom’s ankle! After all, it would be awful if the dog saw a squirrel and decided to run off, right? Well, I tried to pick up this heavy dog to get him back on the platform, but these arms are not as strong as they used to be! I couldn’t lift Bruno, but he was such a good dog and stayed put in the shade.

Kate + Johnny, Michael and I had such a good time at your wedding and spending the afternoon with the people special to you. We wish you nothing but happiness in your lives as husband and wife and we’ll always remember all of the kindness and grace you both showed us on one of the happiest days of your lives!
