Spring engagement sessions are some of my all-time favorites, especially when given the opportunity to do photos with the infamous Japanese cherry blossom trees at the University of Washington in Seattle. With this being my first time meeting Madi and Shannon in person, we became quick friends, and I’m so grateful that they came into our lives! These two are incredibly funny and relatable, and we definitely lost track of time because we were having some fun in each other’s company. Their engagement session started at UW Seattle beneath the cherry blossom trees in the quad, and once it began to rain, we made our way to my nearby studio, where we set up an adorable picnic scene.

Shannon met Madi when he was a fill-in TA for Madi’s coding boot camp class. Shannon would go out for drinks with the students after class at a Lava Lounge bar. Madi tagged along a few times, and they hit it off. Three and a half years later, here they are! Shannon and Madi’s perfect date is getting dressed up, going to a fancy restaurant, and ending the night watching Doctor Who at home on the couch. They hold a special place in their hearts for animals, including their two pups and cat. Their house is filled with a variety of plants, and Madi is the propagation queen! She even plans to give propagated plants as wedding favors; isn’t that so fun and true to them?!?

Shannon and Madi were hiking the trail at the Gazzam Lake Nature Preserve when Shannon simply could not handle not being engaged anymore. He pulled Madi to the side of the trail and asked her to marry him with just the two of them present. Fast forward to 2021, they officially tied the knot with an intimate ceremony and planned a belated wedding reception for 2022.
